Yep, the pictures are starting before s/he is even born

I am amazed at how much better the technology is now (at least ultrasound-wise) than it was 4 years ago when I was pregnant with Rhys. We walked out of there with 2 grainy pictures and had to see the whole thing on a tiny screen. Now, we went home with about 20 pictures, several were 4D (not sure what the 4th dimension is, but ya know...) and it's presented to us on a HUGE 50" flatscreen TV. It's really cool. Or maybe it's just I went from a crappy University state-run hospital to a private one...who knows?

So here is little Zeus, or Zeusette as we affectionally call my very kicky baby who is measuring perfectly in my rapidly growing tummy. Also note the enormous size of my placenta (at least it looked enormous to me in the profile picture, it's that gray thing that looks like a blanket on top of Zeus). No wonder that thing is pumping out massive amounts of insulsin resistant hormones. I think they will need a bigger bowl, just like they did last time.....

(are you happy I got a placenta reference in my post? And just so you know there is a guy in the quad cities who will dehydrate your very own placenta and grind it up to put it in pills you can take postpartum. I'm hooked up like that. Oh, why you ask? Because it's really high in iron and has properties that have been found to reduce the chance/effect of postpartum depression. How cool is that? Way better than making it into a stew... Oh, didn't you know people did that? Well, they do. No thanks... But I entirely respect their view...I just choose not to act on it. Tho wouldn't that be fun to put down on a "What people don't know about you" section of a quiz or game. "I ate my own placenta in a stew or pill form." Talk about sticking out from the crowd. Aren't I an open-minded doula?)
